Mark A. Boyle, originally from Wethersfield, Connecticut, will start his DMA in Choral Conducting in the fall if 2007 at Rutgers University, under the mentorship of Dr. Patrick Gardner. In 2002, he began a continuing association with the Masterworks Chorale of East Central Indiana, serving as their Associate Director. He has studied choral conducting with Dr. Jeffrey Pappas, Dr. Jeffrey Carter, Dr. Robert Kvam, and Dr. Douglas Amman. Further study with Donald Neuen, both at BSU and at Neuen's Conducting Institute, has proven invaluable. He has served several area churches as guest  conductor, guest conducted at area schools, and has adjudicated choral festivals as far away as Kansas City, MO. Continually sought after as a tenor soloist, Boyle performs throughout the Midwest and eastern part of the United States.

 

Boyle attended Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA where he studied music education. He spent 5 years in the United States Navy, during which time he was fortunate to hold the post of Leading Petty Officer and Director of the Bluejackets Memorial Choir. While stationed in Hawaii, he was active as a tenor soloist, winning the 3rd Annual Hawaii Public Radio/Lotte Lehmann Foundation Art Song Contest and placing in the state's NATS completion. He holds a MM in Choral Conducting and a BM in Voice Performance from Ball State University. Boyle is currently the editor of the award winning Indiana Choral Directors Association publication, Notations. In addition, he is the current Director of Music at New Horizons United Methodist Church in Anderson, Indiana. He is married to music educator and pianist Jane Boyle and is the proud father of Nathan - 4 and Patrick - 1.

Mark A. Boyle, conductor, tenor, and composer, is a choral conducting doctoral student at Rutgers University. Originally from Connecticut, Boyle attended Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA, where he studied choral music and choral conducting with Cyril Stretansky. After 5 years in the United States Navy, during which time he had the privilege of conducting the Bluejackets Memorial Choir - earning a Letter of Commendation for his service with the choir from Rear Admiral T. Green, Boyle completed his vocal studies with his former teacher from Susquehanna, at the time on faculty at Ball State University. Awarded a generous graduate assistantship, he stayed at BSU for his MM in Choral Conducting with additional studies in voice and opera.
